know Lee for 30 yrs. he a decent, honest, well-educated, n working 50s christian bachelor. 1st time travelled out of s'pore (malaysia excluded)! my duty was heavy. dun 1 2 shock him with any hiccup. but 2 incidents were amazing: shopping was so damn gd in BKK tat his 2.8k thbt was used up on day 2! he got another 2.8k in d land of smile but by day 3 he's left w S$2!!! haha i became his instant atm! at d airport chk in pt his hand-carried luggage was barred fm hand-carry due to overweight! gotta chk in by paying 750 thbt! as a good friend i solved his problem. on day 2 he said for future trips to BKK he'll bring at least S$400.
pratunam city inn within 0.5km to major shopping malls disappointed with its small rm, no face towel n toothpaste. some ants were in d bathrm. well cant expect much in a budget hotel.
u no longer can taste tis in spore, pig blood! local went 4 intl food eg chick rice, duck rice, jap, korean n western food... tourists luv thai food, tomyum, green curry, sharkfins, birdnests..... mango w sticky rice is her national dessert.
shopping isnt tat cheap anymore. i was in bkk last dec. things changed fast esp d price! platinum mall now sells lots of office n formal wears. more malls r up. bought my fav croc leather stuff. almost bought croc leather shoe. joked at d croc leather jacket. eh i'm not buaya! on d avg cigarette costed S$2.50 only!
tiger air didnt disappoint us but may hv problem 4 long leg guys. on our return flight an indian or sri lankan monk took d window seat, i as a buddhist sat in d ctr. my good christian pal took d other seat. time of departure flight was 6.30pm but we're there 1pm! to escape d flood if any. thank God, although it rained daily, we're safe n sound. as Lee put it we'll return for more. i'm very happy. i've done my part as a good friend n good brother.
